Thriller task- Editing 01/3/10

In today's session, myself and the rest of the group decided to edit the footage that we had recorded on Friday in the previous lesson. We had the beginning to our clip now,and we were going to record the rest of our footage on the following Wednesday for our Friday session. We started off by uploading our footage off of the camera and onto our T-drives so that we had access to it when using premier pro. We decided which clips would be the most appropriate to use and which would not and labeled them accordingly so we knew which clip was which. We decided not to delete the unnecessary clips in case we ever decided to go back and see whether or not we could use a small amount of decent footage from them if needed. After labeling the clips, we moved on to deciding which of the clips we could use and edit to create the beginning of our scene. We chose carefully by watching each clip through individually with headphones to see what adaptions we would have to be make with each one. We selected two of our favored clips and began to edit them so that they flowed nicely together. We deleted any unwanted footage from the beginning and end of the clips, such as the sound of someone saying action or cut during filming, and then put the two clips together to see how they look.
Satisfied with the clips, we moved on to listening to the sound in each of them to decide what would be the most appropriate adaption to make. We already knew from our questionnaire and planning that we were going to have a soundtrack in our clip which was going to play throughout all of the scenes. This in mind, we agreed to mute all of the clips so that none of the ambient sound was audible when watching the footage.
With the formation and sound of the clips sorted, we moved on to adding in the opening credits to our footage. We selected an appropriate font for our clips and chose a color that would help them to stand out against the backgrounds of each clip. We had to change the color of the font for different scenes so that we could still see the credits against the background of each clip. We decided then to create a small survey of names that we could give to our film for the main title, and asked a few of our classmates for their opinions before the session ended.
